As part of the Escola InterGlobal project, promoted by Fundação Gonçalo da Silveira (FGS) in partnership with Rosto Solidário (RS), we recently held two participatory workshops with students from the Arrifana School Group and the Fernando Pessoa School Group.
These workshops aimed to introduce the topic of global interdependencies and identify the students’ main areas of interest, enabling a more focused and meaningful engagement throughout the project.
The first workshop took place on February 24, involving lower and upper secondary classes from the Fernando Pessoa School Group. During the session, students reflected on the connections between different global realities and highlighted topics they considered most relevant to their context. As a result, 6th-grade students identified equal opportunities as a key issue, while 8th-grade students chose environmental sustainability as their main topic of interest.
On March 6, it was the turn of 1st cycle students from the Arrifana School Group to participate in the workshop. With great enthusiasm, they explored the concept of global interdependencies and, through a collaborative process, selected two priority topics for deeper exploration: environmental sustainability and interculturality.
These actions mark an essential step in the implementation of the Escola InterGlobal project, whose mission is to strengthen the integration of Development Education (DE) into the Portuguese education system. By creating, disseminating, and applying tailored educational resources across different school levels, the project seeks to foster students’ critical awareness, empowering them to understand and respond to today’s global challenges.
With these priority topics identified, the next stages of the project will involve targeted activities and educational resources to deepen students’ knowledge of equal opportunities, environmental sustainability, and interculturality.
The goal is to encourage them to reflect on their role in building a fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable world.
We will continue to follow this path of learning and discovery, promoting critical thinking and active citizenship among children and young people.
Together, we are building a more conscious future, committed to social transformation!
