Rosto Solidário supported the participation of five Portuguese young women in a youth exchange in Austria
Rosto Solidário supported the participation of five Portuguese young women — Eva, Beatriz, Emma, Sofia and Gabriela — in the Youth4Earth youth exchange, held under the Erasmus+ programme from 26 June to 3 July 2026 in the Carinthia region of Austria.
The project brought together young people from different countries to reflect on sustainability, climate change and their responsibility in protecting the planet.
Throughout the week, the participants deepened their knowledge of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through workshops, outdoor activities and non-formal learning.
The programme also included a visit to the city of Klagenfurt, activities in nature, sports and a range of initiatives that encouraged interaction and exchange among young people from different nationalities.
For the Portuguese participants, this was a memorable experience. They highlighted the friendships they made, their contact with new cultures and the knowledge they gained. “I’m taking with me new friendships, a lot of knowledge and experiences that I will cherish for the rest of my life,” shared one of the young women. Another highlighted that the experience allowed her to “meet incredible people, with very different cultures and perspectives.”
Their message to other young people was clear: “Allow yourself to step outside your comfort zone and explore new cultures. In the end, you realise that it is truly worth it.” They also described it as “a very intense week, full of activities, learning and teamwork,” recommending Erasmus+ projects to anyone looking for new learning experiences and opportunities to broaden their horizons.
Participation in this youth exchange reinforces Rosto Solidário’s commitment to providing international mobility opportunities that promote active citizenship, environmental awareness and intercultural dialogue, with a particular focus on the participation of young people with fewer opportunities.
