Rosto Solidário Promotes Active Ageing

Rosto Solidário hosted an international meeting of the GreenDojos – Connecting Mind, Body and Nature to Promote Active Ageing project on 12 and 13 March, funded by the Erasmus+ programme.

The initiative brought together partners from Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Bulgaria and Türkiye to share experiences, develop training methodologies and plan the next stages of the project.

Coordinated by Rosto Solidário, the project aims to promote physical activity and social inclusion among people over 55 through non-competitive physical activities inspired by martial arts, carried out in natural spaces such as parks, beaches and forests.

At the same time, participants are encouraged to care for and revitalise these public spaces, promoting environmental sustainability and a sense of community.

The meeting programme included working sessions on synergies with other European projects, outdoor practical activities for trainer development, and testing exercises such as the “Breathing with the Trees” activity.

Workshops were also held to plan future activities, share experiences among international partners and explore the project’s identity through a creative laboratory.

On the second day, coordination meetings focused on the communication strategy, quality assurance and the definition of the next implementation steps.

The project aims to transform public spaces into “green dojos”, promoting health, social inclusion and environmental sustainability, while contributing to healthier and more accessible urban policies and practices for older people.
