The Re-Crafts project, promoted by Rosto Solidário and focused on strengthening vocational education and supporting craft and upcycling entrepreneurs within the cultural and green tourism value chain, recently brought together representatives of partner organisations from Portugal, Spain, Mozambique, Angola and Cape Verde for its second international meeting, held in Mindelo, Cape Verde.

During the meeting, partners shared the challenges encountered since the beginning of the project and defined the next goals. They also visited several local artisans, artists and craft businesses.

One of the places visited was Quintal das Artes in Mindelo, Cape Verde, a cultural and artistic space featuring workshops, exhibitions and a strong sense of community.

A total of 12 upcycling techniques were also selected, which will subsequently be implemented with target groups in each participating country, including vulnerable groups.

These techniques will also be used during the training of trainers, which will take place in Portugal and bring together all project partners and participating artisans.

A focus group with artisans and tourism establishments will also be organised to provide a basis for developing the project’s Value Chain Model.

About the Re-Crafts Project

Re-Crafts aims to revitalise local craftsmanship and promote sustainable practices, combining the appreciation of cultural heritage with sustainable tourism and creative recycling.

The project encourages the integration of artisans from the partner countries, strengthening the exchange of knowledge and supporting the creation of more sustainable cultural and tourism businesses.

Expected Results

• Creation of a Value Chain Model involving local artisans, entrepreneurs and the tourism sector;
• Development of a Vocational Training Framework that systematises craft and entrepreneurship techniques and methodologies applicable to the realities of the participating territories.

The project partners are Rosto Solidário (Portugal), FEDESPAB (Portugal), Cáritas de Angola (Angola), Cáritas Moçambicana (Mozambique), Espaço Jovem (Cape Verde) and ASPAYM (Spain). The project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
